Certification Program At a Glance

In 2002, SMIT organized a professional certification committee to proceed the professional credentials for enhancing the professional standard and dignity for purchasing management professionals. The C.P.P. (Certified Purchasing Professional) certification program was launched and promoted. Until today, more than 1,000 enterprises and organizations recognized this certification and thousands professionals attended the program.

  • >1,200 are certified as the designation of “C.P.P.”
  • >100 C.P.Ms. since 1997, expecting.
  • >20 CPSMs by the end of 2010

In order to promote the purchasing professional to non-experienced purchasing practitioners and non-purchasing personnel, an entry level accredit program A.P.S. (Accredited Purchasing Specialist) was adopted in 2009. This program is formed to provide the basic knowledge and tactical practice that required as an entry level purchasing practitioner, especially beneficial to the SME sector.

C.P.P. Certified Purchasing Professional

  • Accredited by SMIT since 2002, the first professional certification of purchasing/supply management in Taiwan. Three key focuses: professional knowledge, management skills and decision abilities
  • Objectives of certification
    • Developing professionals with broader view and global thinking.
  • Course of program
    • Including both theory and practice within purchasing management disciplines.International purchasing practices and systematic outlines.
    • Professional instructors with C.P.M./CPSM certification (>2/3) and practical experiences.
  • Requirements
    • Pass A.P.S. exam or three years experience in the purchasing/supply management field with English literacy.
    • Experienced buyers with intention to upgrade the professionalism.
    • Supervisory and managerial position personnel.

A.P.S. Accredited Purchasing Specialist

  • Program was designed in 2008 and launched from the early of 2009. The first accredited program for entry level purchasing practitioners in Taiwan.
  • Objective of accredited program
    • Ensuring the basic knowledge and tactical practice for the entry level purchasing practitioners.
  • Target audiences
    • New entrants in the purchasing fields or tasks, interested professionals
    • Intending to change the job career into the purchasing profession.
    • All concerned supply chain management related members: marketing, sales, IT management, finance, R&D and logistics/warehouse management, non-purchasing and supply management …etc.
  • Requirements
    • Pass A.P.S. exam or three years experience in the purchasing/supply management field with English literacy.
    • Experienced buyers with intention to upgrade the professionalism.
    • Supervisory and managerial position personnel.

Requirements
  • Signed up the training program and completed the courses
  • Self-study
  • Attended 2 public seminars or 4 workshops within two years (total 12 hours) hold by SMIT, or 24 hours of training courses by other institutes
Qualification
  • Passed written & oral examinations
  • Awarded “A.P.S.” certification when passed the written examination
  • Passed written examination at SMIT
  • On-site written examination could be arranged if the total sign-up numbers are > 10
Written Exam
  • 220 test questions – 70% in Mandarin Chinese and 30% in English
  • 120 test questions all in Mandarin Chinese
